Underwater is ready to unleash its first album of 2008. Magik Johnson, New Zealand’s best loved house producer, has been with the label for some time providing us with ace singles such as Jump/Malone, I Give Up as well as mixing Episode 5 alongside Darren Emerson so we thought it was right about time for us to drop his new album.
The first lead up single, East West Connection/The Bushman was released with mixes by Crookers, Greg Churchill, Arveene & Misk and the second single is Bullet To Nagoya/Your Shadow and will be released with mixes by Serge Santiago and Fjord. The album takes the listener on a journey alternating between dancefloor bangers and sultry laid-back numbers. Magik covers extensive ground including trip hoppy sounds on tracks such as Hardware and Gorelova through to vocal upbeat tracks namely with Crazy P vocalist Danielle Moore on As One.
The album is a special double CD with the bonus CD containing club mixes, extended versions as well as a few remixes done by Magik himself. The album is aimed at home listening and the bonus CD acts as a DJ tool. 2008 is set to be Magik’s year with a world tour planned around the album release which is due out in June.
